Some say we approach great change; Madison Blackwell's new novel, Two Witnesses, tells a fun and enticing story of our world's last ending, the dragon's world. Using premises from the ancients, Christian allegory, powerful prose and a "right to the point" story line, Blackwell tells an insightful and entertaining tale which causes the reader to ponder our journey through life from a powerful and wonderful prospective.

Hard to resist is a story that opens with comparison to similarities between dragons and humans or one that causes our minds to run toward the present while being told of the past. A passage from the beginning of the book depicts the beautiful world of dragons before it ended and their very existence turned into folklore: "Today, we no longer understand who dragons were or how they lived, but they were really very much like we are today. They lived, loved, and died in their time and in their ways, just as we do now. They all spoke a common language, lived under a government with laws, had their social norms, taboos, their legends, religions, their wants, needs, and dreams."

The plot essentially revolves around the theme of good vs. evil-as with any good fantasy/epic novel. A young adult dragon named Ogg finds the enchanted, hidden city of Mu; where all the answers to life's secrets are found, including a journey into and back from the afterlife. As in our modern world where the traditionally secret Kabbalah is being taught openly, the new perspectives in this good and short read are refreshing to encounter! Many of the insights brought forth here were last encountered in the lives of pre-Columbian Indians. This is a story that pierces the veil between life and death.

Truly there is no new thing under the sun and those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat the mistakes made in the past. As Ogg said, "Consider the small, blind cave fish that lives in the dark caves. Could they understand the sense of sight? Much exist around us that we cannot see. There are those in these cities who call themselves gods, they tell you that this life is all that there is. If you live for this world and by their laws, you will die with this world."

There are many fascinating parallels between Ogg's journey and the journey of the human. The ruling council of the dragon species tries to control Ogg and all spirited dragons like him. The dragon-god Ruoh is like many of our leaders today who imbibe alternate agenda and convey half-truths, instead of doing what is right. Powers and principalities beyond comprehension are revealed to hold much sway.

Ogg finds his departed grandfather in Mu. Many of their conversations are truly telling: "We try to influence their thoughts, in order to change their ways, but many will never make it off that world. Many will have to stay there forever because of the choices they make and the way they live out their lives. In fact, they are trading a few short miserable years on that world for an eternity of happiness, and they do not even realize the error of their ways!"

The bottom line is that Ogg and a fellow dragon, Revorg, are appointed watchers and witnesses for the dragons and must fight against the forces of evil, bringing to their world a message like the one to be delivered by the two witnesses mentioned in the book of Revelations. Pick the gods of this world, or the one true God, the choice is for each individual to make. Ogg's task is to reveal that which is the true reality, and in doing so, our modern world will be graced with a new view of ancient truths!

Read Two Witnesses to find out what happens when Ogg returns to his kind and shows them the knowledge and secrets of life he acquired in Mu. Within its pages you will find many answers to questions that often plague mankind. Two Witnesses is fascinating, creative, and a must-read page-turner!
