Evolution, revolution, crazed gunmen out of control, wars and rumors of wars continue to loom, information coming and going too soon. It sounds like a song we once listened to as teens. With so much happening, all at once, writing it down in prose or poetry is surely one way to possibly understand each of the circumstances surrounding us today. It would certainly help those here in the future as the stories, historically relevant, fade into fables and song.

Is the earth on probation? What does that mean? Probation literally means testing of behavior or abilities. In a legal sense, an offender on probation is ordered to follow certain conditions set forth by the court, often under the supervision of an overseer or probation officer. A probationary period is used to reinstate a once offender back into society after a period of rehabilitation.

Earth's probation includes more than it's position in the universe; it also includes its inhabiting nations. It includes mankind. As one of many planets in the solar system, earth's probation results more from the evolution of being millions of years old. However, mankind's probation results from consistent adverse behavior.

This probation idea is one case when using the Bible as a reference makes sense, as the probation period theory is biblical in its origin. Since the beginning of mankind, God has used the number forty, which means probation, as an effective tool. Throughout scripture the number forty has been used as a sort of preparation period, for example, forty- years in the wilderness, raining forty- days and nights, Jesus' forty- day fast, a woman carrying a child forty- weeks before giving birth, to name a few. These are periods of time in preparation to fulfill whatever follows. The Bible warns that there will be wars and rumors of wars, false Christ's and earthquakes, but these are mere signs that the end is near. They are signs of the times, to be used as a probation period.

Can the recent covert mission in Pakistan reveal any message about the state of our world? Should we flirt with notions involving philosophical or spiritual influence? Can the killing of Osama Bin Laden by the Navy Seal Team, under orders of President Obama, be linked to a bigger plan?

America is one of the youngest nations on earth and has become a super-power, fulfilling the role of protector to its allies. If there were ever a time when we should feel that earth were going through a transitional period, it would be now. The Middle East demonstrating for the desire of freedom, students throughout Europe protesting for fairness, riots in Greece, and our own nation barely escaping the pit of financial depression. It seems that now more then ever the major dynasties, education, economics, politics, and religion are being tested simultaneously and like never before.

Barack Obama, as the forty-fourth President of the United States, in a biblical sense has assumed the title of earth's probation officer, (forty: probation, four: earth). He had each of these problems placed in his lap and told to ‘fix it'. In his most recent victory he successfully closed a chapter to the reign of terror committed by one of earth's most unruly violators. In a sense, Osama Bin Laden, whose behavior was guilty of violating this fragile probation period, was sentenced to death by earth's head probation officer.
