The cleaning Wand

The scrubbing wand is the window cleaning equipment that does the real scouring of the window. The wand is in the design of a "T" and is made of a light-weight hard plastic. A lint-free cover sheath goes over the uppermost of the cleaning wand, and is kept in position with snaps or Velcro tabs. The apparatus is subsequently dipped into a pail complete with the cleaning formula, and then the scouring begins.

Window Washing Formula

I've used all of the commercial washing solutions out there over my many years. I have found, and continuously come back once again to, the old dependable dish washing soap. Yes, that's right, Dawn dish washing detergent. I use the degreaser kind, and a good deal of it. I have observed it cuts down finger prints extremely well, and it has the most effective "dwell time". Dwell time is a word I use when speaking to how long the washing formula remains on the glass. Many of the other professional products, or even products such as ammonia, dissipate too swiftly and you are not capable of getting the window clean before the cleaning agent has dried-up.

Scraper

Frequently you will encounter extremely strong fingerprints and/or junk fixed to the glass that usually requires the use of a method more powerful than the scrubbing wand. When you come across this predicament, I take to working with a scraper. It is significantly important, however, that you merely use scrapers that are particularly developed to be used on glass. By no means use a putty blade or box blade. One excellent scraper blade that can be used is a normal one inch razor blade. You should make sure the blade is brand new; due to corrosion on a blade can cause damage to glass. A good razor blade will not scratch the glass.

The Squeegee

The squeegee is the fundamental equipment used in the window washing occupation. It is just about impossible to clean a window without using a squeegee. Squeegees are used to eliminate the water and washing formula from the glass after it has been cleaned. The old-school brass squeegee channels still seem to be used by most pros. Detailing towels

For me personally, I have a preference to keep my bucket of cleaning solution on my belt, and I keep my scrubbing wand in the bucket so that it cannot drip no matter where you are in my client's residence. Then I am also able to keep a small reserve of cleaning formula in the bucket so that I can clean a few windows at a time without having to going back to my main bucket so regularly. I also have a dual holster to store two squeegees, commonly a 14' and an 18' inch for most homes. You may in addition want a singular holster to hold the scraper. I keep my detailing rags thrown across my shoulder. There are quite a few different choices available with regard to tool belts. You should try to obtain the one that works right with one's own cleaning approach.

Ladders

For the beginner you may really want to remain with a relatively easy step ladder that is no higher than six feet tall. Almost anything bigger can be dangerous. At all times have a 2nd person when operating on hazardous surfaces or on not level ground. Sometimes even then, be sure to use tremendous attention and safety measures.
